Privacy Policy
Downlow on the Brownlow (ABN 14 510 232 636), a Victorian partnership operated by Dale Crotty and Jack Stewart ("we", "us"), is committed to providing quality services to you, and this policy outlines our ongoing obligations to you in respect of how we manage your Personal Information.
We have adopted the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The APPs govern the way in which we collect, use, disclose, store, secure and dispose of your Personal Information. A copy of the Australian Privacy Principles may be obtained from the website of the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at https://www.oaic.gov.au/.
What is Personal Information and why do we collect it?
Personal Information is information or an opinion that identifies an individual. The Personal Information we collect includes names, email addresses and, where you purchase from us, order and delivery details. Payments are processed by our payment providers — we don't see or store your full card details.
This Personal Information is obtained in a number of ways, including by email, via our website www.downlowonthebrownlow.com.au, through our competitions, and from digital media campaigns. We don't guarantee the website links or policies of third parties.
We collect your Personal Information for the primary purposes of providing our products and services to you, running our competitions, and marketing. Where you've subscribed or purchased from us, our marketing emails cover our Brownlow predictions, analysis, products and offers, and may occasionally include offers from our partners. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all of our marketing emails. We may also use your Personal Information for secondary purposes closely related to the primary purpose, in circumstances where you would reasonably expect such use or disclosure.
When we collect Personal Information we will, where appropriate and where possible, explain to you why we are collecting it and how we plan to use it.
Sensitive Information
We don't seek to collect sensitive information (such as information about racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, or health information). If we ever receive it, we will only use it for the purpose for which it was provided, with your consent, or where required or authorised by law.
Disclosure of Personal Information
We don't sell your Personal Information. Your Personal Information may be disclosed only:
-
to our service providers (such as Wix and our payment processors) as needed to run our business;
-
to third parties where you consent to the use or disclosure (see the competition section below for the optional share with Tumble Coffee Roasters); and
-
where required or authorised by law.
Storage and security of Personal Information
Your Personal Information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Our website and customer data are stored with our website provider, Wix, which may store data on servers located overseas (including in the United States, Europe and Israel).
When your Personal Information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify it. We keep transaction records for as long as needed for tax and business purposes, and competition records as described below.
Competition entries — "Pick the Brownlow Top 4" (2026)
When you enter our competition, we collect:
-
your name, email address and phone number;
-
your consent selections and the date and time of your entry (including any resubmission).
We use this information to:
-
run the competition — record and verify your entry, apply the one-entry-per-person rule, judge entries, apply the tie-break, and contact and announce the winner (we may use your phone number if we can't reach you by email about a prize);
-
send you competition-administration emails (entry confirmation, results, winner contact) — these are part of running the competition, not marketing;
-
send you our marketing emails — Brownlow predictions, analysis, offers, and occasional offers from our partners. Agreeing to receive our emails is a condition of entering this free competition. Every marketing email we send comes from us, and includes an unsubscribe link that stops all of our marketing emails (including partner offers). Unsubscribing doesn't withdraw your competition entry.
If you don't provide the requested information, we can't accept your entry.
Sharing with Tumble Coffee Roasters
Tumble Coffee Roasters is our competition partner and provides the prize.
-
If you ticked the Tumble Coffee Roasters box on the entry form, we share your first name and email address with Tumble Coffee Roasters so they can send you their own offers and promotions. Tumble Coffee Roasters sends those emails as a separate sender, and every email from them will include their own unsubscribe.
-
If you didn't tick that box, we don't share your details with Tumble Coffee Roasters — with one exception: if you win, we share your name and delivery address with Tumble Coffee Roasters solely so they can deliver your prize.
-
We don't sell your information, and Tumble Coffee Roasters is not permitted to pass your details on to anyone else or use them for any purpose other than sending you their offers (or delivering the prize).
Important — unsubscribing from us doesn't reach Tumble Coffee Roasters. They are a separate organisation. If you've consented and later change your mind:
-
to stop Tumble Coffee Roasters' emails, use the unsubscribe link in any of their emails, or contact them directly at hello@tumblecoffeeroasters.com.au;
-
to stop future sharing by us, or to ask us to pass a deletion request to Tumble Coffee Roasters for details already shared, email us at downlowonthebrownlow@gmail.com — we'll action it and confirm within 10 business days.
How long we keep competition data
We keep competition entries, consent records and the judging record for 3 years after the competition closes (to meet record-keeping expectations and resolve any disputes), then delete them. If you're on our mailing list, we keep your name and email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
Access to and correction of your Personal Information
You may access the Personal Information we hold about you and ask us to update or correct it, subject to certain exceptions. To do so, contact us in writing at downlowonthebrownlow@gmail.com. We won't charge a fee for your access request, but may charge a reasonable administrative fee for providing a copy of your Personal Information. To protect your Personal Information, we may require identification from you before releasing the requested information.
If you find that the information we hold is not up to date or is inaccurate, please advise us as soon as practicable so we can update our records.
You can also ask us at any time to unsubscribe you, to stop sharing your details, or to delete your information (we may need to retain minimal records where the law requires, e.g. the competition winner record).
Policy Updates
This policy may change from time to time and the current version is available on our website.
Privacy Policy Complaints and Enquiries
